Found this rather amusing photo of Patricia Highsmith at her typewriter and wondered about the circumstances in which it was taken. Writing and being photographed are entirely incompatible activities, yet I have seen other pictures of well groomed authors busily typing (or posing with pen), always black and white; wonder if anyone today photographs authors feigning work on laptop?
